Oh, the Beers You'll drink
This is just going to be a quick post to make you all jealous. I made it out to Bridge of Allan Brewery yesterday which was finally open. Once I got there, there was a good news / bad news situation. The good news was that the brewery had been doing so well that they had to expand their operation! The bad news was that this meant that they only had bottles and a couple things on tap; no tour because the facilities had been relocated! However, they expect to be making an addition to the old building in Bridge of Allan and adding some vats back in by Christmas, so I'll get to see it if I'm patient. I wasn't too sad though because I still managed to get a nice little collection of authentic Scottish Microbrewed Ales!
I had the Brig o' Allan 80 shilling yesterday and it was yum yum delicious! I'm actually about to head back to the Brewery now to try some of the other beers on tap that weren't available yesterday. Specifically one called Scotch Mist which is supposed to be kind of citrus-y and tangy. While I'm there, I figured I might ask about working with them! I think that would be just about the best job possible for me right now!
------edit------
Unfortunately, the owner wasn't looking for any extra help right now. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere.
------end------
Love y'all.

Mission accomplished - I am jealous! Great photo. I'd like to try the red mist raspberry ale - sounds yummy. If they are expanding, maybe they need help, so it seems like a good idea to give that a try. And you have a brewer for a brother, does that get you any points?
Whoa dude. Color me jealous. :) I totally want to try that ginger one. (and all the rest)
I've been inspired by your travels to crack open a few of my old scotch books and read the text rather than just the reviews and it's been enlightening about the geography of Scotland as well as the whisky. I'm also coming around to adding (distilled) water to the whisky to drink it, from what I've read that's really important to release more aroma. About 50/50 or less water, just enough to make it smell sweet. Yum.
I've been reading that whisky should be cut with abotu 1/4 water, but it's a little different for each whisky. I think the idea is to bring it down to about 25% ABV so that the alcohol doesn't wipe out your taste buds.
Speaking of, I've got a bottle of Prince Charles Whisky in my cupboard that needs soem tasting. It's a pretty cheap grocery store variety, but I gotta start somewhere!
