Last few days

So, I leave on Tuesday for Scotland and ever since getting back from our trip at the North Shore, I've been busy buying/packing/preparing things. Fortunately, I am very good at getting tons of stuff into tiny spaces. I managed to get about twice as much clothing into my duffle bag as I expected, and that left my bathroom stuff and misc crap for my backpacks.

All of the stuff on the left is going into my internal frame backpack, and the stuff on the right is going into my daypack which I'll carry-on to the plane.

Packing this bag is like entering another dimensions. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, and I'm still finding new pockets in it!

Once I got all my stuff into this backpack it weighed about 37 pounds. I have a couple more things to add, which should put it at about 40 pounds. I think that's about perfect for carrying, and is got a nice buffer under the 50 pound airline checked luggage limit.

I had to pull some stuff out to wash it and re-check it against all my lists, but now I think all I have left to do is put everything back into it's appropriate bag. I've been so busy getting ready for this trip, it feels kind of weird to actually feel done. I think all I have left to do is say goodbye to everybody! I've been doing that slowly over the last month and most of my friends are already out of town at their own colleges, so it's just a couple of people left.

And of course my delightful parents!

I just got my scotland phone number figured out, so I thought I'd let you all know how to reach me. It's 011-44-798-510-6829. I get incoming calls for free, so if you can afford it, or have a good plan, give me a call! I'd love to hear from any of you.

I'll also be on Skype fairly often, and my ID there is quentins2.

Word, buddy! You're probably hanging out in Chicago by now and won't see this til you're settled in Scotland, but how cool is that to think about? So cool. Keep the posts coming, you'll be glad you have a fun pictorial journal when you're back (and we'll love seeing them)...
