My Apartment!

Finally the promised and much anticipated apartment blog!

So, here's the outside of the building. There are 12 units in total, and mine is the "garden level" (read: basement) at the front left of the building. We've got parking out back and some stairs that go straight down to the bottom level, which is very convenient.

This is my living room, as seen from when you first walk through the front door (which is where I'm standing). I got all of the stuff in this room from Craigslist, and I got some great deals! The futon is really nice and was free, and so where the couch, the loveseat (which you can't see, against the right wall) and the chair. As you can see, I've already got a computer next to the entertainment center and one of my LCD monitors on top.... we'll just see what nerdiness I can arrange for that eventually!

This is just to the other side of the futon, and it's my scottish corner! I had already decided to display my scotch out in the living room, so the flag was a perfect addition. Thank you guys so much for the birthday present, it looks really great.

And here is one of the best items I found: a beautiful wooden table which I re-stained. It even has a leaf in it to adjust the size. This dining area is located through the doorway dead-center in the living room picture and is the exact opposite direction of the picture of the Scotch.

To the right of the dining area is the kitchen. Perhaps a little on the small side, I'm quite happy with it. I don't think you can see in the picture, but the stove is pretty old and each of the burners on top is controlled by a series of push buttons, kinda like the blender at the parents house! That fact alone doesn't bother me, but it makes it easy to accidentally turn on by leaning against it, so I have started turning off the whole stove outlet via the circuit breaker when I'm not using it. Better safe than sorry!

There are a couple more areas (like the bathroom, storage closet, pantry, 2nd bedroom) but they aren't very exciting, so my last picture is of my bedroom! Not too exciting at the moment since I still need to get some decorations up, but it's starting to get arranged. The door in the middle of the far wall is the walk in closet, and the door on the left goes to the hallway which connects to all those other rooms I just mentioned. I just got a new desk today and put it in the corner that I'm standing in to take the picture.

So, that's my new apartment! You're all welcome to come visit and stay with me now. I've got the futon and the hid-a-bed couch, so you won't even have to sleep on the floor! There are definitely a lot of things left on my list that I would like to get for this place, but I think I've got all the basic stuff covered. On Tuesday my internet will get activated and then I'll move my last computer over here and really be fully moved in.

It's pretty exciting to be on my own, and I can't wait for you all to come see it whenever you come out to Colorado next!

Love you all!

Yay, congrats on your new place! Your Scottish corner is awesome! Hopefully we'll make it out there sometime soon so we can see it in person.

Congratulations! Your place looks great and it seems like you are all settled in. Look forward to visiting the Scottish Corner next time I am in Fort Collins. Oh, if you need any extra silver ware you can have the fish set I left in FoCo :)

That's a freaking mansion! Don't you want to maybe spread out the two laptops, maybe put one in the bathroom, instead of all clustered on the table? :)

Super exciting!
